- Seat patient & introduce yourself.
- Place the bib on them, Setup handpieces with burs & air water syringe on the bracket table.
- Remove the temporary crown and any temporary cement still adhering to the tooth. It may need pumiced with the Slow speed handpiece.
- Try the permanent crown on the tooth without cement to be sure that the permanent crown seats well, floss crown & check bite, then place a cotton roll to settle crown.
- Take a pre-cementation bitewing x-ray (Dr. Bryant only)
- Notify the Doctor that the patient is seated and of the patients wants, needs, desires and any other pertinent information.
- Mix the cement & place the cement in the permanent crown. Hand the crown to the Doctor for insert. Hand Doctor the explorer, so they can remove some of the excess cement.
- Doctor will insert the permanent crown and place a cotton roll over the permanent crown & have pt. bite down on the cotton roll for approximately 5 minutes.
- Chart appointment in patient’s chart. Make any changes or adjustments to patient’s appt. in the computer and Add your name in the assistant field if not already there, then Complete the appt. in the computer.
- Take pt.’s chart up front so they can Submit pt.’s insurance, be prepared to Schedule pt.’s next appt. & Treatment plan any changes to pt.’s current treatment plan.
- Inform the patient of what their next appointment will be, Ask if the patient has any questions, & Escort the patient to the front desk so they can check out.
Crown Insert Charting
Temporary removed and all temporary cement removed
Fully seated final restoration without cementing. Checked contacts, margins, and tooth seal with good contacts
Took a pre-cementation x-ray to verify that the mesial and distal margins are fully seated
Patient saw and approved crown. Reminded patient that prior to cementing any changes to shade, color, and shape must be made prior to cementation.
Made minor adjustments using a high speed diamond bur and water
Applied Blue Etch, 3M universal bond to crown and tooth
Cemented with: (RelyX, Ceramir)
Removed excess cement
Provided post op instructions (careful over next 24 hours while cement fully sets), also to let us know if concerns arise)Light cured on the buccal, occlusal, and lingual for 20 seconds each (RelyX only)
