Nitrous Oxide Set Up

Nitrous Oxide Procedure

1. Plug in oxygen and nitrous lines into the slots at the operatory
2. Nitrogen and oxygen tanks are turned on in the back near the back door
3. Turn on the panel at the front desk
4. Go over instructions and what to expect with the patient
5. Place mask over patient and place on oxygen for 5 minutes
6. Slowly increase the concentration of nitrous up to 50%
7. After procedure is near completed, place patient on oxygen for 5 minutes before dismissing patient

Nitrous Oxide Charting

Informed patient the risk vs. benefits of nitrous. Obtained patient/parent consent.

Placed patient on oxygen for 5 minutes

Titrated nitrous up to 50% for 

Placed patient back on oxygen for 5 minutes before dismissing patient
