Denture/Partial Insert Procedure

  1. Seat patient & Introduce yourself.
  2. Place the bib on them, and empty out the sterilized instruments on the bracket table.
  3. If extractions needed: have extraction instruments out & open, Topical placed, Take patient’s blood pressure, document BP in chart & on consent form. Have patient sign consent form.
  4. Place Dentures/Partials in patients mouth to settle
  5. Notify the Doctor that the patient is seated and of the patients wants, needs, desires and any other pertinent information.
  6. Chart appointment in patient’s chart. Make any changes or adjustments to the patient’s appointment. in the computer and add your name in the assistant field if not already there, then complete the appt. in the computer.
  7. Be prepared to Schedule pt.’s next appt. & treatment plan any changes to pt.’s current treatment plan.
  8. Inform the patient of what their next appointment will be, ask if the patient has any questions, & escort the patient to the front desk so they can check out.

Denture/Partial Insert Charting

Inserted prosthesis and let settle for 5-10 minutes

Gave patient a mirror to obtain patient approval of the shade, contour, esthetics, etc. 

Placed PIP on the intaglio surface of prosthesis and re-inserted prosthesis, adjusted prosthesis accordingly

Checked occlusal contacts/bite, marked with articulating paper and adjusted accordingly

Verified speaking space, phonetics, and other speech criteria

Went over homecare instructions with the patient, including to take them out every night to clean and leave them out when going to bed

Informed patient that adjustments will be needed in about a week to relieve any sore spots
